Well not nearly enough discussion is happening here so I pose the timeless question.
What is the meaning of life?

To live it and have fun with it. I'm not gonna say "to make the most of it" because that implies that one should strive to make every day interesting. "To attain happiness" perhaps, but what do you do once you attain it? The happiness you had slowly diminishes and you simply want more, so "to acquire happiness" may be more accurate, but then you're striving for something that should come easily. I once thought "to break even" which is something I eventually found out Buddha thought of first, though he put it rather more eloquently, that one should neither have too much nor too little, but then you're left striving for a fragile balance that can easily tipped off scale. "To go with the flow" would be my second favorite, but it leaves a sort of emptiness when that mentality is inevitably faded and you are left wondering what could have been. So yes, live life, have fun, don't worry too much, but worry occasionally if only to remind yourself you're not dreaming.

I have trouble answering this question, but i finally found a solution. Well, not necessarily a solution but an excuse for a lack thereof. In order to perceive the meaning of life, you need to die. You need to complete it before you can contemplate it. Can you really understand a book without reaching it's climax? Or experience the world with your eyes blindfolded?

Lol, we asked my biology tutor this question once, her answer made me laugh: Tutor: "Meaning of life? Its quite simple. You're simply a carrier, a receptacle for DNA, and your whole reason for living is to pass on this DNA and nurture the little receptacles until they are old enough to continue the function too, then you can die happy knowing you fulfilled the reason for your existence ^^" Classmate: "Sooo...we should just...reproduce?" Tutor: "Sensibly *smiles widely*" ____________________________________________ Her views aside, considering they're kind of depressing yet have a point, its 42 =3 Nah, meaning to life, I feel, is subjective. In the long run we're here just to pass on our genes. All the other stuff, making a mark on the world, leaving something behind, becoming famous, its all man made 'meanings' and not a definitive one. However, above the depressing DNA carrying one, the meaning of life is different to everyone. If you figure out the thing you want to do with your life, and succeed, good for you, however others find this much more difficult. The only reason we look for a meaning is because we're intelligent almost to a fault. I'd honestly just stop searching fr a meaning and live our life, you never know, it might slap you in the face one day, like a tuna.

...dear lord, she's right. The meaning of life is sex. And perverts are really just people obsessed with life itself...

Well, I'd like to point strongly at the last line she said: "Sensibly" A pervert is obsessed beyond the social norm, and often with the wrong kind of...uh...target, or have a distorted view of life. Perverts = bad

Still, that's pretty hilarious. And somewhat less depressing the way I said it. XD Alright, in the end, the meaning of life IS subjective. We each make a goal, and either feel fulfilled on our death bed, or wish we'd chased after something bigger. It's the thought that one NEEDS a meaning to their existence that is, in my opinion, one of the most dangerous things to our race. It can cause one to do something stupid in search of that meaning. (such as attempting world domination (don't get me wrong, I think the only way this world can prosper is if one guy oversees everything, but most who try do so with violence and inevitably don't do a whole lot of good)). There's no "almost" to it, we ARE intelligent to a fault. Now that's depressing.
