Hello,
Why & how is heat given out or absorbed during chemical reactions?
Thank you.

Heat is a form of radiant energy. More specifically, it is the amount of movement of the atoms/molecules. If heat is "absorbed", the chemical reaction in using up energy and, therefore, slowing the movements of the atoms and molecules. If heat is given off, the reaction is releasing energy and exciting the molecules, causing them to move faster. Reactions that give off heat are known as "exothermic" while ones that take in heat are known as "endothermic".
